CABINET ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Cabinet Features
Today’s spas offer many cabinet features that make your bathing experience more safe, convenient and enjoyable. The list of popular features below includes items that can improve overall enjoyment of your spa.

Step Packages. The safest way to get in and out of a spa is to sit on the edge and swing your feet around. This can be tough, though, if your spa is greater than 28" in height. A very useful feature to get is a step package that will make entry and exit easier. Most manufacturers even offer steps that match your spa cabinet, making the overall look of the spa more coordinated and pleasing to the eye.

The most common step widths are between 24" and 36" but some manufacturers also custom build steps that are wider or that wrap around the perimeter of the spa. You’ll find that this type of step package adds to the elegant, dimensional look of your spa while also providing greater safety.

Optional Accessories

Chemical Storage Cabinets. You can choose to get a locking chemical storage cabinet that provides a safe location for your chemicals that is convenient and adjacent to your spa. These cabinets come in a variety of materials and sizes, all designed to look great while serving a useful purpose.

Planter Boxes. Many people like to make their spa look more decorative by adding planter boxes to the perimeter. Indoor spas are particularly good for having planter boxes, as are outdoor spas in temperate climates. Many manufacturers offer custom built planter boxes that match the spa cabinet and step packages.

Safety Rails. These are great for anyone who needs a little extra safety assistance when entering and exiting the spa. They don’t interfere with removal and replacement of the spa cover, and if you’re injured or otherwise have limited mobility, they can make using your spa much easier and more convenient.

Cover Lifters. Spa covers are much heavier than they look and are quite cumbersome to handle, especially for one person. A cover lifter is a mechanism attached to the spa cabinet and the cover that makes it easier to maneuver the cover on and off. Some of them are so well designed that you can move the cover with just one hand. These devices also help to extend the life of the cover, which can be quite expensive to replace. Since 1998, cover lifters have become the most common and popular item sold as an add-on feature for spas.
